I love the beauty of the congregation lighting candles during the singing of "Silent Night" on Christmas Eve. I did not, however, enjoy the two hours I spent on getting rid of the wax drippings on the pews afterwards, despite the congregation being instructed on how to do it safely and without damaging the pews.
I've never been responsible for cleaning after a candle lighting service, so I never thought the wax that might be left. I'm always careful but now I will be even more careful.
