Yesterday, I encountered this guy while at Two Lights. Today, I returned to try to find him and with luck!! I found him lying on his back sunning himself. Soon, I discovered he was also trying to heal. His lower left lip is missing (you can see blood on his fur), he also had abrasions on a front flipper and his side. He was bleeding as he tried to escape back into the ocean. I felt so bad about disturbing his rest. Poor guy! In retrospect, I think this was the same seal I saw yesterday. I'm happy to have found him but sad I disturbed him. I hope he heals quickly.
Glad you reported it. I saw this at work and on my way home was thinking about how painful to have half a lip torn off. But my goodness you have done a magnificent job with this subject.
