Fort Gorges was completed in 1865 to help protect the city of Portland. But by the time it was completed it was already obsolete due to modern explosives! Now it's a welcome site to boats entering our harbor. I took this from the campus of SMCC down near Spring Point Light. It was a stunning day here in southern maine. As you can see the sky and sea were gleaming! Springtime in Maine!!
You weren't too far from my bosses house. I took a picture of this when I was down where the barges come in but yours is better. Mine never made the project.
