Yesterday, at an 'Eye on Nature' event at the Auckland Botanic Gardens, this tui was part of a gorgeous mural. The mural showed lots of NZ animals and birds and was part of a big tunnel into a maze. Tui are lovely singers - they are important pollinators as they distribute pollen when they reach into flowers for nectar. They love flax, kowhai and kaka beak flowers. Early European colonisers called tui the 'Parson bird' as the feathers look black and also tui have a white throat tuft.
WOW.....At first I thought you had that fantastic shot we have all been waiting for, I tried so many times this year to get a good shot......but to date still a fail....lol
@deliad - Yes a bit of a cheat taking a photo of someone else's artwork, but I did say it was part of a mural…… Wish I could get a nice photo of a real tui!
Thank you for you visit, you so nice comment and the fav. Appreciate it very much.
