Birds of the Botanic

Lots of birds around at the Botanic Gardens today - some easier to capture than others! Was a great day with @julzmaioro - have a look at her site for another closeup of the native tui. Tui look like they have a huge tuft of white feathers on their neck, but in fact it seems that there may only be two white feathers - more research required I think!
Beautiful bird collage, especially the bottom left one, love his colours.

You are skillful to catch any at all , let alone enough shots to make a collage.

A collage presentation of these splendid pictures was a wise choice. It would've been too hard to pick just one for your project. I wonder what the black bird with the orange beak is.

@lyndemc It is a blackbird - a male - the female blackbird is brown! t is not a native bird of NZ and was introduced from Europe. It eats insects, berries, worms and fruit.

@fishers Our wee native fantail (piwakawaka in Maori) - they flit around very quickly and are hard to photograph - they look even better when their tail is fanned out.

Just so lovely, I can stalk or chase a bird for ages & at the last minute 'lost.'
