The garden

I have two tiny vege gardens - this one has corn, peas, potatoes and rhubarb. The peas are flowering, so we're on track to have fresh peas (and potatoes) for Christmas.
More hockey today - NZ lost 3-2 :( The test series begins next week.
Wow garden looks good... very orderly...

Your peas are way ahead of mine!! And the corn looks like it will bear very well. Yummy.

Go the Aussies!!!

@golftragic Yes - the peas have rocketed away - I filled the garden with heaps and heaps of compost this year. I am a bit worried though, as I caught the guinea fowls scampering away from this garden patch and just hope the blighters don't reach through the netting to get the peas! They also fly about the place and are rather untrustworthy - they have pecked most of the sunflower seedlings off at a uniform 3 inch height!
Yes - go the best team! The hockey I was watching today was men's hockey (refer to yesterdays photo) and as the Black Sticks have gone into camp ready for test matches against Canada next week, the NZ team was an invitation one. The NZ youngin's did well, but lost 3-2.

@julzmaioro Oh no - is this another age thing…. OCD about the lawns, now you are telling me the garden is 'orderly'….

I've just bought one of those hawk kites on a flexible pole to put up above my veggies and the apricot tree. Once it's up the 'hawk' swoops up and down very realistically which should keep most, if not all, of the pesky birds outta my vegies and fruit. We had a good apricot crop last year, but the silver-eyes got in through the netting and sampled all of them!!! I don't mind them eating some fruit, but not this peck here and peck there stuff!!!

@golftragic PS I had guinea fowl on the farm and they're a bloomin' nuisance!!!

Very green, dad always used to grow new potatoes and peas for Christmas. I have grown potatoes the last couple of years but alas not this year. I have raspberries though!

@deliad You have hardly had time to catch your breath of late, so I am sure supermarket ones will be fine, with lots of mint! Maybe you will have time next year and be able to replicate what your dad did. This year, you have had a much too hectic and emotional time to think of gardening.

Looks great, green fingers working.

Guinea fowl are great little birds but very opportunistic - you may have to lock them up when the peas start fruiting, I must say your garden looks great - it has been so dry here that everything I plant goes to seed almost straight away.

How wonderful. I'm a big fan of home veggie gardens, and this is not small at all. I would love to see the other as well. They are time consuming but the benefits and joy make it worth it. Big FAV of this shot and your green thumb.

Wow so pretty. I have given up trying to raise veggies - the results I had have always been unsatisfactory.
