Took mum to see a fuchsia (pronounced few-shia) show today. It is held in Waiuku and is one of the biggest fuchsia shows in NZ. There are so many different varieties. I had forgotten my camera, but was able to go later in the day and it was far less crowded!
I absolutely love this plant and have had them in hanging baskets in the spring and summer but my so called green thumb turns black because I cannot keep them healthy. This is a beautiful capture.
@pyrrhula I was lucky when I went back to the indoor show, that somebody had sprayed the flowers with water droplets and this added interest to my shot!
My favourite flower. My 1st husband had about 20 varieties in the garden, but only the hardy ones are left as his garden was fuchsias and loads of summer bedding plants and I couldn't keep it up after he died, especially as it was sorely neglected during the last years of his life.
@ceilidh Sounds like it was a lovely garden - good that you still have a few hardy ones left. This is my first effort at growing them, so I hope they are hardy too!
