In the South Pacific, a huge cyclone has devastated Vanuatu and then headed south towards New Zealand. The cyclone had lost most of its power by the time it got to NZ and only the east coast was hit by high winds. In our area, on the west coast, we were pleased to have 22 mm of lovely gentle rain overnight. It's the first decent rain we've had for ages.
It was so sad about the devastation in Vanuatu. The good news for us was that we have friends with family over there, and they are all safe. It is at least good news that you got some much needed rain out of it.
Yes good that it did not hit NZ as bad as was expected but feel very sorry for the people of Vanuatu.. we only got 15mm but that is a start.. lets hope we carry on getting some warm rain.. nice shot of your Rain Gauge..
Very nice and a good reminder how much rain is important even though I hate it when it rains. So sad about Vanuatu. Saw some shots of the destruction on tv.
Wow 22 mm of rain, great capture in lovely colour and detail Dianne , Pleased to hear that it did not hit NZ as hard, so sad for the people on the devastated islands of Vanuatu. great to know that N.Z. personnel are already there helping those affected:)
My first impression of this image was that it was a chimney of some sort, then my brain kicked in.
