Planting seeds for the garden by dide

Planting seeds for the garden

At school today, we had a garden guru come in to help teach the kids how to make wee newspaper seed pots and plant vegetable seeds into them. Next term, they will plant the seedlings into the small school garden. After the instruction session, they all had a turn at making the pots and then planting the seeds. I loved this photo - typical kiwi kids, all in bare feet!
I was just going to say typical Kiwi kids with the bare feet... great shot and great to see the kids taking an interest in their environment.

I just admire New Zealand school of education.

You are quite right! English would have sandals, American would have sneakers, Russian would have boots and the Italians would have high heels!

@julzmaioro @yaorenliu @maggiemae Yes - we are lucky to have a variety of environmental and garden programmes that many schools offer.

Great image full of interest and detail Diane, Health & Safety would only allow bare feet in the swimming pool in UK schools, sensible shoes else where!:)

Haha, you know it is NZ with those bare feet. Aussie kids would have been bitten by a venomous spider at this point!

looks like an interesting gardening lesson, but what about when they stop printing newspaper?

I'd get along well in NZ — I love to go barefoot! Great capture of youth in the learning process. I like how one young fellow's hands on his knees as he leans over in apparent interest.

Great that the children learn to grow things and then get to eat them. Love the bare feet never an option at school in our cold climate.

What a sensible idea, I love that they have no shoes on!
