Puriri flower

This is a puriri flower from a large native NZ tree. The tubes contain nectar, that the tui and other birds love to eat. Later, the reddish, round berries provide food for the kereru (native pigeon), who eat them and then disperse the (4) seeds to another part of the native bush.
