A couple of weeks ago, I had a lovely afternoon out with @julzmaioro. We discovered these gorgeous kahikatea in a flooded swampy area. These trees are also known as white pine and are NZ's tallest tree, growing up to 60m tall. If you look closely at the bottom of the trunks, you can see where the cattle have rubbed against them and rubbed the moss off. Kahikatea wood does not have an odour, and in the 1880's, when butter was being exported in 50-60lb blocks, the wood was used to make boxes to ship the butter to Australia.
