Te Waihou by dide

Te Waihou

We had a lovely walk the other day, following a river of beautiful fresh water that comes via an underground aqueduct. The springs - Te Waihou (meaning the new water) come from way up in the ranges and the water takes between 50-100 years to filter through before resurfacing. The water comes from the spring at such a rate (42m cubed/minute) that it could fill a 6 lane, 25m swimming pool in 12 minutes. A beautiful spot, with a 5.2km walk alongside the river.
40 shades of green! Wonderful shot, beautiful spot.
