Progress

We had to take out a line of shelter trees that had died (some canker disease or other). It has left us very exposed to the southerly wind, so today Josh and Chook put up a new fence so we can plant a new row of shelter trees. I have been teasing them, as they used the digger for a 'post rammer' and the fence isn't up to the usual high standard!
Good to see that the job is done and the tree's will soon be up hiding the fence...

Love seeing farm-life in reality. After the south-westerlies we've had today, you need those shelter trees!!

it must be quite exposed without the trees. Hope the new ones grow fast

Well the fence is only for separation - its the trees you plant which will be for shelter - try the Leyland Cyprus!

@maggiemae the previous trees were Leyland Cyprus and were a good shelter until they all died. This time we are planting karo which are salt/wind hardy.

I think the equipment is more than up to the task of digging post holes, ha! Hope your fence and new trees provide the shelter you want. It may be a few years before the trees are tall enough though.

@happypat it certainly was quicker and it was actually too wet to get the tractor and post bumper into the right spot.
