Huntly power station by dide

Huntly power station

The Huntly power station is situated on the bank of the Waikato River. This station is capable of generating 30% of NZ's electricity needs. It is operated by gas and coal fired steam turbine engines. Water is taken from the river and cooled to less than 25 degrees C before being returned to the river.A rather disappointing image because the day was so grey!
Interesting shot in light of some recent debate in the Australian parliament.

Wouldn't want to have a power station look too bright. LOL

Scene looks peaceful in spite of the industrial chimney look!

I never knew how this place worked, I never asked before just saw the steam coming out so it's good to know the way it works!

Very topical Dianne, lots of hoo-hah here about coal-fired power stations and about coal in general.

It is an interesting place. I am sure it would look amazing in the right light and with reflections too?
