The flight of the bumblebee by dide

The flight of the bumblebee

Well actually it is the flight of the honey bee...Yesterday, while on our way home from New Plymouth, we came across this happening, so stopped to take some photos. This is an area with lots of Manuka (teatree) up in the hills. The beekeepers were collecting the hives 8 at a time and choppering them to a central collection point. It must've been hot work in the middle of a very hot summer's day. Manuka honey is very expensive and the purer it is, the higher the price. It has antibiotic, antiviral, anti-inflammatory
and antioxidant properties, so has many health benefits.
Lovely collage each image beautifully captures the event, I like the way you have presented it Diane:)

This is a great collage and a very interesting way to move the hives!

Of course I have seen many hives in NZ around the Manuka trees but this is a totally different way of collecting it. Would love to have seen this. Manuka honey in the UK …proper Manuka honey of high purity that is is a massive price in the UK. It healed my brothers finger beautifully.
