We were cruising along nicely yesterday, when Chook slowed down and pulled over to the side of the road. 'At last' I thought, 'I have him trained'. A little way back was this gorgeous scene.... but no, he had just pulled over to let someone overtake us! I was quick to suggest I get out and capture this image.
Today we travelled from Kaikoura to Blenheim in the wind and rain, as Cyclone Gabrielle made herself felt in the South Island. It wasn't too severe to travel, but we stopped sooner than we intended, just in case it got worse. Hopefully the Canterbury Region gets some good rain and not too much wind.
Lovely rural shot, it looks dry as you would expect at this time of year, unlike back home. Hope the ferry crossing back isn't too rough, if they've started back again
Ha ! how we sometimes kid ourselves, I thought he may have been admiring the cattle!! but so glad he gave you the opp. for this beautiful scenic view. Like yesterday this image is so painterly! fav
I had to laugh about your training comments! Good you took advantage! I know the road you drove past all the vineyards! Are you heading for the ferry….might be a bit rough! Glad you’re safe though!
@happypat we’ve another 24 hours before we catch the ferry. There have been cancellations in the last day or so, but hopefully it will be calmer soon. Some terrible flooding in the North Island and ongoing evacuations.
Hope the damage from the cyclone isn't too drastic where you live
