Running the Numbers: An American Portrait

Now I don't want to get all preachy to you and I know most of our 365ers are from america so I thought I'd share this with you..

It's been about for quite some time I first found it about a year ago and it has just resurfaced on Twitter It shows pictures of US consumption and is quite scary.

I'm quite in to all this "Saving the planet" stuff not for any hippy reasons just for the reason that in 50 years people of my generation are going to get screwed over we'll be getting ready to retire and the world will be in chaos at rising temperatures and not enough energy to go around. After I have finished travelling (yes i know how hypocritical all my plane journeys are) I plan on getting to a level of self-sufficiency that can maintain a comfortable lifestyle. In Europe it has just been announced that there will be a huge push on harnessing solar in the desserts of Africa. It's about time some significant changes were made but we need more!

There's a free e-book called "Without Hot Air" http://www.withouthotair.com/ that you can download it's a back to basics on energy consumption everyone needs to read this so we can all be more informed on the matter.

Anyway I'll stop my rant here.

Thanks.

I'm an old hippie and have been 'saving' the planet for well over 40 years. Whatever the reason we need to keep our spaceship's life support systems functional and for heaven's sake could we each do something about the garbage we make.
Reduce
Reuse
Recycle
Life is messy clean it up
