Wedding Photography Advice?

July 16th, 2010
Pretty soon I'll be shooting my first out of four weddings and although I've done photography for a few years now, a wedding is completely new for me. I have all the equipment I need to catch some great shots, but I'll have to admit, I'm a little nervous.

So, I was wondering... Would any experienced wedding photographers (beginner or pro) have any great words of wisdom to pass on and possibly help keep me from having colder feet than the groom? Any tips would be very helpful!

I recommend using two camera bodies if possible, borrowing a second from a friend maybe?

On the first body I use a superzoom (18-200mm) and an external flash that I can bounce. That's my main setup because it's consistent and I'm not missing any shots while changing lenses.

On the second body I use a fast prime, (50mm f/1.4) and set it up for shooting ambient light only.

Just my two cents...

Hey Heather,
I have also been put into the same situation... shooting a friends wedding on my own.

I found googling "wedding photography tips" was really helpful.

This site also helped put me at ease :)
