Introducing myself

August 13th, 2010
For starters, let me apologize for flooding the site with my pictures. In July, I started my 3rd year of a 365 project, so I have a lot to post to catch up.

I've already met several great new people and I am already feeling comfortable here. Thank you.

You can find me here: http://365project.org/hecate

I look forward to "meeting" you!

I began taking photographs before 35mm color film came out. I was in Japan and used both Nikon and Canon cameras. I still use Canon cameras and lenses. I prefer taking all my photos out of doors early in the morning or late in the evening. All are taking in my small city backyard. So to see a hawk here is exciting as is a crow or an owl. I work a lot on birds and insects and use regular lenses. I don't own a closeup lens. I use to screw on magnifying filters (2x and 4x) when I was to get closer than 18mm. I am 75 years old and I am not on oxygen all the time so I am limited in what I can do. I was named after my cousin, President Abraham Lincoln. I am married for 55 years to Patty. We have five adult children and several grandchildren.

It's very nice to meet all of you and I appreciate all the nice comments I have received so far. :)

I haven't branched into the realm of SLR photography yet, but I would like to soon. I have been upgrading my camera every year and for the most part, SLR is the next logical step.

Right now I use a Canon Powershot SX120IS. It's a nice camera, 10 MP and 10x Optical Zoom.

As some of you may have guessed, I am a freak for live music and spent most of my down time going to concerts and taking picture while there.
