Canon 60D: Anybody excited?

Hey 365ers, Canon yesterday announced a new model that will sit nicely between the Rebel series (or 450/500/550D range for UK users) and the 7D. If you haven't seen it take a look at this video:

I'm looking to upgrade early next year from my 450D. My question is, are any other Canon users here looking to as well, or do you think the 7D is a better step up? It looks like the 7D has a more robust body, can shoot more frames per second and has two custom modes instead of the 60D's one, whereas the 60D has the articulating screen that might come in useful and is slightly smaller and lighter...

I think I just found my new camera body :) I was thinking about the 7D, but the 60D is a few hundred cheaper. I don't care so much about the screen flipping out (might be useful, but not a deciding factor for me), and I could care less about video, but I want the high resolution and the in-camera raw processing sounds great! It just might cut down on the work I have to do to my images.

In the UK the 7D will only be £100 more, so it's a tougher decision. The durable body is a plus, as is more frames per second on the 7D. If I was more into wildlife and sports photography the 7D would be a no-brainer, but I'm not so it's more difficult.

If it's really only £100 difference, which sounds doubtful to me, then it's a no brainer - 7D all the way, it's the next product line up.

It is £100 difference - visit Jessops.co.uk and check it out! It's because 7D is an older model. I don't think 7D is going to be upgraded for about another year though so it still has some life in it...

Oh yeah I see - dang, sorry guy, I thought it was just a pre-release thing with converted price guesses based on the exchange rate or something. Didn't think it'd be in shops over here yet if they only announced it yesterday. Derp!

from what ive read into it and seen for myself the 7D is much better !!! So if it was me id be going with the 7D

I'm going that way, 7D has a magnesium body, faster frame rate and 19 AF, whereas the 60D has a swivel screen, is lighter and cheaper...

I'm into Nikon, not Canon, but I must say, my Nikon D5000 has a screen that pops out and you can turn around and it is so so so helpful at times!

Vik I missed this discussion when it came out. I'm thinking the 60D is for me, time to upgrade my old 350D! I am really excited about the swivel screen, I take alot of shot from strange angles and always do it 'blind' then have to check it once its already taken.
