Ok he brings up some valued points, some of which I'm sure we all have struggled with, or will struggle with, at some point(s) in our project. But why not just say, "ok, maybe this project is not for me"? Oh, well to each his own I guess.

Hahahaha!!!!! hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!

I saw in my web traffic you posted a link to my blog so I thought I'd stop by, sign up and say thanks for that!

I just wanted to clarify, I’m in no way trying to knock the regular 365 day project. I have seen some amazing stuff from some amazing people. I am mostly joking in the points I make in the post, but just wanted to point out my own personal reasons for avoiding the forward moving version (as I’m worried what I say would end up being what I was posting if I did it that way).

Thanks again for posting this, and thanks for checking out my backwards little version of what you fine folks are doing!

Each person has personalized their project in their own way. Some are already showcasing their best work, even though they are not current. Others depict their everyday life. Others are trying to grow as photographers. The beauty of this project is that everyone can choose what their focus and aim is.

As to the fact that all our pictures look the same, my aim is to make sure that my pictures do not all look the same. In fact, I think there are opportunities I took - walks I took, people I talked to - that wouldn't have happened if it hadn't been for this project. There has been an apple theme on my blog because of my experiences lately, but I wouldn't have expected that at all. Thanks for the idea about the kitchen sink though!

Second, if you carry a small camera or a camera phone, it isn't hard to carry a camera everyday. Maybe take out the dog biscuits!

Third, posting everyday isn't that hard, and technically you do not have to post everyday. Just backdate your pictures to the date you took them - or the date you want to post them.

He has some interesting photos; and I think a number of us have undergone the same challenges he pointed out. I may not always be happy with the photos, but I like the challenge :)

When I look at the pictures I take now, I compare them to pictures I took years ago. In years to come I think I'll be glad that I have 365 more photos to look back on as a reference :)

His idea, his mediocre photos with irritating logos on and his keeness to tell us all how incredibly busy he is are not for me so I guess yeah, you do your project and we'll do ours mate.

Ditto to everything Shelina said. I would have very few photos to look back on if I never commenced this project. I've enjoyed seeing the world more up close and personal through my macro-feature on my fairly inexpensive digital point and shoot. I can appreciate if it is not right for everyone and even that he has adapted it to suit his needs. Great! But taking photos everyday as been wonderful for me and so I'm thankful the regular ole 365 project.

I dooo try to take a picture every day... but sometimes life gets busy and I'm not going to lie, I used pictures from a few days to a week ago. I see nothing wrong with that though... plus I am trying to get better at my photogrpahy and this site is definitely forcing me to take pictures almost daily and to expand in ways I wouldnt have before. I love it!!
and your Idea is a great one Dorrena!! I look forward to some of your best photos :))

Me too Lauren. As I have said before, these projects are personal to all of us and what we do with them is up to us. As long as we are giving credit to the proper source then all is good. AND .... I too look forward to my best photos. ;-)

Hahahaa! Love it Steve!!

This guy doesn't get it, and has no concept of something called creativity. I stopped reading when he said something along the lines of "you're usually in the same place", etc.

If an individual is really trying to accomplish the challenge that Ross has set forth in this project, you sometimes have to dig deep. Metaphors in images, etc.

Conversely, Mr. "reverse" has an idea that is a cop out for lazy people that have "no time" but they are are the same people that spend a hell of a lot of time starting at an XBox 360 or a Playstation. Big deal. Have fun, Sociopath.

But, you know me. I have no opinion.

Sue
I love 365, and everything about it. I don't see how showcasing a stockpile of pics that I have already taken serves as a "photojournal" where I learn as I shoot.

All the points in Petes article are valid. And at times they are all something I've thought of to some degree. But for me its a personal project. And its an "excuse" for me to carry my camera (p&s, phone, slr) more often than I would normally. Its a great community and I'm really enjoying the project.

What ever happened to "playing it by your own rules"?
Why would anyone feel the need to say something cruel to / about this guy and his photography? He's allowed an opinion and as Steve pointed out, several people here ALREADY do what he's doing... doesn't mean anything.

These kinds of topics always turn so sour. It's a shame, really.

One of the biggest things he missed is the social/supportive aspect of 365...I am on day 268 today and over this period of time I have made friends all over the world. I have come to care about you, my 365 friends. I know when you are sick and I know when you have something exciting happening in your life. I have learned about the part of the world you live in and the things that are important to you. I have learned about geography, religion, culture, plants, and animals from your part of the world.

Yes, we all have days when our photos are not so exciting (sheesh...I posted a photo of shopping carts yesterday...how mundane can you get) but still I learned a little more about editing in the process. And big whoop that he is showing us all his old photos...that is sort of like being held "captive" in someone's living room as they show you all their vacation shots from the past several years.

And if anyone wants to post a kitchen sink photo...well, go ahead...actually, I think RaysWrld came close to that one - http://365project.org/rayswrld/365/2010-06-30 but I loved it. It showed his sense of humor. I got to know him better through this photo. Well, you get the idea...to each his own. If that works for him, that's great but as for me, I will be here for at least another 90+ days...and then I don't even know if I can sign off at that point...I may be back for another 365!
