Definitely beautiful photos here. Actually, Urban decay was one of the things that really got me interested in photography...and Detroit awesome for it (sad but true)
Wow,you could shoot a post-apocalyptic movie there! ...really great photos. And there`s an abandoned library full of books? They just leaved them there? Sad.
I used to love photographing abandoned buildings where I went to college, in and around Nottingham UK. I haven't done anything like that in years though, I have a little boy now and wouldn't really be able to drag him around these sorts of places... I really miss it though.
Wow. That's just sad. I'd be interested in the unsalvaged art deco chandeliers in #14.
I was in Detroit this past summer for a conference. We were downtown in a nicer area, but I walked around a bit and admired a lot of the architecture I saw. I didn't have a good camera at the time, so no pictures.
Conversely, I found the drive to the airport sad--so much destruction. It was just bleak and ugly.
I've lived in Detroit since August, and a friend of mine showed me these photos a little while back. Beautiful photos, and saddening, but living here I know there's more to the story.
Yes, some parts of the city are in a great deal of decay, and there are a great deal of problems, just as with any city, but I hope the people who see these photos won't write Detroit off the map just yet. There are so many wonderful people here accomplishing amazing things. The city has a great spirit, it reminds me a bit of New Orleans (though I was only there for a week). This is a city that has certainly seen better days, but I hope that there are even better days to come for it.

One of my favorite places is the old train depot.

I don't really care for this picture now because my HDR skills were less than great LOL.
Also did a boxing shoot at the original Masonic Temple in Detroit. What a fabulous old building. We hope to go back there and shoot soon.
