I've noticed an awful lot of posts recently of people asking for critiques. The problem with these is that you tend to get a few replies on that thread... then no critique again. And... it clogs up the 'latest topics' section :p
So, basically, I was wondering if it might be a good idea to have a sort of 'critique' directory where people who want critique can post their names and it'll stay there permanently so if anyone feels in a particularly critical mood, they can look there and follow the links. Does anyone have any opinions on this?
Edit: apparently the tag to use on photos you want critique on is 'critique-me' thanks @emjay8 Opinions on the directory would still be good, though :]
the tag mentioned in a lot of these threads has been critique-me and that seems to be a good way to do it
althou a directory page of the like may also be another way to go
I have noticed this as well, and it's getting a bit overwhelming to ignore. The Critique forum description does invite all these threads, though.
Maybe have one thread a week (like browse & pick) that people can comment on to be part of a critique me this week? But it could be missed very easily as we've experienced elsewhere on this forum with repeat questions.
On the critique board there is sometimes a game a bit like the browse and pick thread. The person who starts it adds their most recent picture and the next person adds what they like about it and what they would change about it and then posts their own most recent picture to be critiques for the next persons opinions.
The directory sounds a good idea in principle but as threads disapear from the first page relatively quickly it could soon be lost.
@Scrivna I would love something like that. As I have said in other posts, I used to tag photos "critique-me" and never got feedback. A page dedicated to critiques would remind others to check it out now and then
@Scrivna That could help. Is it possible to have 'sticky' threads on this forum? I've seen it on other forums where there are certain threads that stay at the top of the discussion page all the time. Perhaps we could have one of those and people would just add their name if they were wanting their photos critiquing?
As I think that a lot of people here not only love photography but want to improve their skills as well, there should imho be a visible link to where you can find those people & their pictures. I very much like the ideas of making a page with shots recently tagged with "critique-me" and the concept of a sticky thread (if that is possible).
@Scrivna That sounds like a great idea....maybe include the tag in the description or somewhere on the page, so people could access the past photos tagged as such too, in case they make their way through all the ones currently visible on the page

I know people can just go and look at the critique me tag, but a page explaining it and an easy way to visualize it could help.
