I'm a new photographer - and currently have a crappy camera. I plan, (on the day of my divorce! ha ha) to buy a really nice one (with a budget of $1000) but that is not until May of next year.
My question or advice that I'm seeking is what camera can I buy with a budget of $200 or less that will tie me over until next May?
If you're wanting a camera with the versatility of switching lenses, etc., you'll need a DSLR. Unfortunately I don't think you'll find one in the 200 dollar price range. At least not a new one - maybe a used one. For that price, though, you can pick up a pretty nice point and shoot camera.

Stretch a little more and get the Canon S90. It has the manual functionality of a D-SLR (including RAW capability), a great lens that can take images at f/2 and is small. You'll still use it even when you do eventually get your D-SLR!
Welcome to the project! If you are look for a p&s I recomend the sanyo x1400. It is 14 megapixal with nice features (including the ability to take panoramic shots) and is very compact. If you can afford $400 instead of $200 the sony alpha a230 is a good little starter dslr. good luck finding what you are looking for.
