Hello, help with colour and b&W?

April 25th, 2012
How do you keep one part of the photograph in colour and the rest in b&W? Which program to use, do I need to download or purchase a program or are there free editing programs one can use? Thanking you for your help.

@chantal Look on youtube for colour pop or selective colouring. But basically you need two layers, make the top one B&W and erase the areas you want the colour back in. : )

Hi, I use Nik Softwares plug-ins with Aperture 3. I use Control points to put colour back into selected areas, works a treat

Picasa 3, it's free and has a tone of cool things to edit photos! I use it and I love it, since I'm too broke to afford and legitimate stuff. Just type it in on the google search bar it should pop up.

Like this?

I did that in Photoshop CS5, with a layer mask.

Done with PhotoShop Elements 9. Much like @manek43509 I masked the feather earring and turned the rest of the photo B&W.

You don't need software to do this. You simply don't do it. Ever.

My camera have a function to do this...keeping red or green or yellow and the remained part in b/w...
