I have been enjoying taking shots of sunsets in the form of silhouettes. Just wondering if there are any special setting you perhaps use for this task, I'd like to extend my experience into other subjects/scenes.
At the moment I just point the camera and hope for the best, lol. Lucky for me it works most of the time on sunsets - mostly using the 'Landscape' setting on my Fuji FinePix HS30 EXR!
You expose for the sky. This should keep your subject in shadow. No flash. Unless you would also like a properly exposed subject and beautiful sunset in the background. I'm not familiar with your camera so I can't give any suggestions as to what settings to use, though.
@jodeewatts This is sunrise over the Mississippi River. The actual sunrise was adequate, but the silhouette of Samuel Clemens made it extraordinary. So, don't forget sunrise and sunset can be the backdrop and not the principal.
And a nice sunset and sky is necessary ;-)
Make sure you use the spot measurement for the exposure (is that right? - my English is terrible)
