Hi 365ers! :) I have my homework on photography workshop which is the "black on black photography"- factors to be considered are lighting and shadows. The main goal here is to make your "black" subject separate from its "black" background. I have three shots of a black cat with different angles and I'm doing a survey so kindly please help me choose what to submit PRO and technical-wise. =) (I mean don't mind the cat's cute face)
cat2 for the same reason as dorena. Backlit gives definition on edges without being too harsh. I think 1 and 3 gives too much definition and lighter colours in the fur facing the camera
Cat 1 is too close and I would have gone with cat 3 but there is too much light on the left ear and not enough on the right; so I would have to say cat 2 too :)
The light on cat 2 is purrrrrfect (dont all groan at once)
Also agree with number 2. Face is in focus, catchlights are in the eyes, the head definitely pops from the background and there is just enough light for the body.
On my work monitor, it just looked like a head with no body. But on my home laptop the picture is brighter so it shows up better.

I also uploaded this as today's entry :) http://365project.org/madokalicious/365
eyes really pop
the cat is nicely outlined without washing out its color
