Hi all,
Just started my project... still learning how to use my CANON EOS 500 D. Photography is something I have admired my whole life... now its my chance to really get behind the camera and capture the magic !!!
Hi, I'm 5 days in. Newish camera - a big trip to the Himalayas next week - renewing my love of photography. I'll follow and would welcome followers too :o)
haha Karla, I took a picture of a cup for crying out loud, lol. Yeah I sometimes feel weird, which is why I use my camera phone alot of times b/c then it doesn't look so obvious that you are taking a picture. That is what made me quit project365 last time. I didn't have the camera phone then and that feeling you mention got the best of me...to the point where I was just taking pictures of dumb things around my apartment. Camera phone...2 thumbs up.
@jls1127 hmm.... the whole reason I decided to do this project was so I can teach myself how to use my new camera... so I want to avoid using a point and shoot or camera phone... I know what you mean though.
I feel like a bit of a wally holding my big DSLR when I'm out for coffee... lol
@karlacrowney yep most of the time, I took a photo at a lake once leaning over the edge to get a water level perspective, dressed in full motorcycle gear, the guys and gals fishing looked at me as if i'm mad, to be honest I probably am, but lifes to short eh, just go for it, its usually those shots that work the best
@karlacrowney yes, i'm a bit shy about that stuff which i guess is why most of my pics are macros or big landscape types. If i do take pictures of people i tend to pop on a big lens and stand back from the crowd and "invade their space" from a distance! that probably is more freaky than just taking the picture on reflection!! I'm hoping that this project allows me to explore things a bit more and just take waht i see regardless.
@karlacrowney Oh indeed,I have gotten some interesting stares. Thats why I started also, finding things to take pictures of that seemed silly but the outcome was amazing. I just laugh when I'm done with a shot that just made me act like a kid, just recently I was in what I called a yoga position,in the dirt,in my pjs with a hat on trying to take pictures of my husbands tools just laying around seeing if I could me them look cool. =)
@karlacrowney , no, i dont reckon your weird for that, i think everyone feels the same, i recently took a pic of a shadow (i called it spike), and it came out really nice, all it was, was the reflection of the blinds on the wall at sunset time, a nothing pic but hey, i liked it.
i think thats what its all about, plus your picking up your camera every day to try to take a nice shot, that in itself motivates me because i want to improve. hope this helps? ; )
Hey everyone, it has been 14 days since my project began ! It's nice and cool to see everyone's awesome works here . And Karla I think you're definitely doing a great job now ! I will surely follow you :)))
Hi Everyone.. I am new to 365 as well. Would love to follow other newbies and be followed as well. @KarlaC: That has been one of my biggest obstacles in starting photography. I am shy by nature and feel stupid sometimes taking a picture if others are around. I'm slowly letting go of that, but it's difficult. :)
I'm new too! And @ KarlaC and @ Rachael...glad others feel the same way i do!! I feel like that is my biggest obstacle in getting the shots I want. The other day I had to park my car on the side of the road with cars flying by just to get some pics of the fall leaves....I felt so dumb...but afterwards, I had some pretty pictures to show for it and was glad I did it. :) Hopefully I can get better at that!!
hey fellow newbies.. i'm also new to this site. I kind of started a 365 over the summer but fell off track and I'm hoping that this site (as well as all of you) will help me keep going!! I am now following you guys and hope for some followers myself :)
@karlacrowney I get that a bit Karla but I have overcome it in the most part. I still get the funny looks but I just go about taking my pictures anyway. Some people at work think I'm nuts...until they see the pictures when they say "oh...cool, great idea!"
Welcome to 365project Karla. I'm looking forward to seeing your shots over the next year or so.
