"Not everything that can be counted counts, and not .. [more] everything that counts can be counted."

As said by Einstein.

I'm in a photo contest that has to do with this particular saying.
Anyone have ideas on how to incorporate it into a photo?

Thanks,
James

Is the theme the full quote? "Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted"

What about something like a concept/emotion/moral that you value? For example loyalty? It's something that counts (i.e. has value to you) but can't be counted. Or another idea would be a group of inanimate objects? They can be counted but they can't count.

Now that I'm thinking about it I'm coming up with a heap of ideas. Maybe I should enter ;-)

This is going to be controversial but what about a cemetery? If nothing else it will get people to think but could anger some people. I like shock factors though.

what about money? for example, a 5gallon water jug of coins
February 10th, 2010
yeah, for some reason the first thing that came to my mind was stacks of coins.

Hmm that is a tough one...the first thought of course, is money.

But to be different, I'm going to say use something unconventional...like an abacus lol
hope it helped!

Ahhh Another DPC'er.... hi.... I have no idea what that means...... but i keep leaning towards TIME for some reason......
February 10th, 2010
Yesss DPC, hahaha. Well now the contest is past deadline it really doesn't matter. I didn't find anything relating to the quote and I didn't want to rush.

Next one is either on a man made object or a nature made object

That ought to be fun, I've already got an idea for man made...

I need to find new spots, I can't seem to find anywhere appealing to my eye.

I know the feeling.... I have lots of ideas but winter is kind of putting a damper on things..... not to mention work..... The stuff around the house is getting kind of boring.
February 10th, 2010
I would probably go with a concept or feeling. First thing I thought of was a very old person sitting on a bench holding hands with a little kid (maybe 3 or 4) and having them look at each other, smiling.

to me that quote is about emotion....

hmmmmm....

i will ponder

James,
The first thing that came to my mind (man made, or nature made) was a tree house. Or perhaps a house, building, temple built into the side of a cliff.

You get the picture (each relies on the other for its completeness)!

Frank Lloyd Right waterfall house?

What about homeless people. Not all homeless people count but sadly the ones that should be are missed or ignored for whatever reason.

to me i think love vs money... maybe money on a table, or coins, or bills that there is no money to pay - and people hugging or kissing in the backhground? love means the most and cannot be tangibly "counted" or measured but it counts the most....

Birthday candles? You know, because of the whole aging thing...

I like the idea of a hospital maternity ward - all those babies lined up seems rather fitting. Kinda like the following:
