I have manage to use the quick selection tool for removing a background that I don't want from a picture and I made it black like I wanted now I'm having a problem with smoothing the line between the two areas of the picture so it looks natural ...any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated !!!
I use CS5 and there is a button on that for refine edge along the top where you choose the size for your quick selection tool. If you have that, click on that. There is feathering etc in there so you can smooth out the edges. Hope you have it and hope it helps. If you have it, play about with it or google refine edge as I remember a tutorial that gave measurements on what to use.
Just out of intrest what is the colour of the object/ subject? I always do it but i have such dark hair i can blend it into black by using airbrush and dark colours. Not useful in most situations though! i'm having a play although i have this problem often too.
One suggestion, play with layer blending options somtimes makes it blend then you can select again and play with levels to make it as dark as youd like...? dont know if this makes sense at all... if not i apologise, makes sense in my head!
@kirsty1975 8.0 won't have refine edge but it does have feathering, in addition to what you said right clicking while selected will bring up an option called grow that can be used to pick up those extra pixels.
If you find that the magic wand does you no good for selections, there's the polygonal selection tool and the pen tool - with the pen tool you can do extremely accurate paths then turn them in to a selection with the right click dialogue
I'm trying to blend around hair and a shirt it looks all jagged and I have tried all to my knowledge to fix it I'm not sure how to work all the tools yet and I have tried playing with them . I'm thinking this isn't coming easy to mean I find this editing program very difficult for some reason but LOVE what it has to offer. The object does have dark hair and a pink and white stripped shirt on ...I will try to figure out layer blending and airbrush I haven't found that feature yet LOL THANK YOU ...THANK YOU ...I appreciate all the information :)
Yeah just select again the area and go to Select tab and click Feather and you can choose the desired % of smoothness you want so it will blend to your background.
