shooting "bubbles"

July 1st, 2011
i dont know if this is a new topic, but i cant be the only one trying to get pictures of bubbles (with or without the kids)...i would prefer a outdoor setting but willing to do some indoor experimenting if any one has any cool ideas...thanks...

Get some of the giant wands or some of the colored bubbles. Or, and this is very difficult, put one on a flower. That's about all I've tried.
My first try.

On the wand.

On a flower [hard!].

We had too much fun that day for just one shot.

Oh yeah, smoke filled [if you're a smoker or you know one].

And then just a bubble by itself.

Good luck!

For me, shooting bubbles indoors is easier

How do you focus? I've sort of tried this but I suck hard at it.

I've done a few bubble shots.

Bubble at night

Daisy bubble

Dandelion bubble

Bubble machine, this one was taken more to capture the day as it was my daughters birthday rather than specifically to capture the bubbles but it still counts :)

outdoor is the best, a garden or a park. you need not worry about breaking anything. and you need children at least two to make all the bubbles you can shoot. and don't do it on a windy day. i had fun with this one:

Havent experimented outside, but inside i got this shot in April:

Bowl of water with some food colouring, straw to blow bubbles into it, then shot into light from underneath.

It seems to be much easier in warmer temperature, or they seem to drop to the ground really quickly. I found it really hard!

@artistmichelle It looks like it is underwater. That's really pretty!

Buy some glycerin at a health food store or online, and add a few drops to your soap mixture. This makes the bubbles last much longer (works for waterdrop pix too). Google homemade bubble recipe with glycerin.

I don't have any original bubble photos to share, but did make this little video of dish soap with a macro. Crazy colors! http://365project.org/pixelchix/365/2011-03-19
