How can I fix this photo? I need more lighting on the flowers. I am making a photo book for a friends birthday of flowers and would like to use this photo since it is her bridal bouquet. I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 software or if there is something online. Or if someone wants to take a shot at it that would be great too.
I use www.picnik.com and you can do auto exposure.. sometimes that will help if you boost the contrast a little too! I am not familiar with Photoshop, they are too complicated for me.. :) Hope you can get it to work, this is a great shot! :)
I had a quick play with photoshop... someone could do this so much better, but maybe it gives you a bit of an idea?
I did it in layers, lasso around the flowers, feathered the edges and adusted levels for that section. I then sharpened (which caused it to blow out and look rough, but you get the idea and can do better on the orginal).
I cropped the water jug so it wasn't so noticeable and then cloned the fingers out, to leave the blue glasses, which look like they were special and needing to stay in the pic.
Have fun!
I cropped the shot and tryed to lighten and enhance the roses to bring out the lovely bouquet. I had trouble as the focus was quite soft and when tweaking the curves to lighten it they became quite pixelated. To cover that up I used a 0.5 gaussian blur to cover the roughness up and I lightened the edges of the shot to make the soft look more nostalgic.
I did all that in photshop and used: curves, the dodge and burn tools and the sharpen and blur tools
In photoshop - i altered the lighting and contrast to give more colour to the bouquet, created a layer and blurred out the picture. then erased the area where the flowers were to create the effect. You could also masque and feather the edges more to get rid of the blues altogether.
@scrapnyak@cazink@sparkle These are wonderful. I've got to learn more about my Photoshop so I know how to do all these things you are doing! Wonderful!!
If you have Adobe Bridge with your Elements there is a really easy solution. If you open your image in Camera Raw (from bridge - it doesn't need to be a RAW file to do this) you can select the Adjustment brush to do this edit. You then paint over the area you want to select and move the sliders on the right hand side to get the desired effect. I just tried it on this image and it was easy. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150236263889156&set=a.10150236263849156.324121.310819879155&type=1&theater
Will take you to the link in my facebook album so you can see the result. It took about 1 minute. Good luck :D
Hi Ann -
I have no place trying to help someone with editing, but I have found a few things I like to do until I learn a better way. In photoshop, in the "image" drop-down menu, then under "adjustments", there is a thing called "shadows/highlights" that I like to play with. I'm sure a real photo editor would say to use some kind of layers, but I'm not there. I wanted to paste my result, but I don't know how to paste a pic on here that is not in my project. By the way, I like the overall composition of the photo, including the hand, so I did not crop that part out.
I just went for the full crop and lightened up the shadows, Spot healing brush to get rid of the blue glasses etc. A bit grainy but maybe Ann will approve. ;-)

How did you guys paste a photo into this discussion without it being a part of your project?

Ok, here's mine...I also softened in picnik.
