I need some Critique

October 30th, 2011
Hey guys I need some critique on this photo. I was just playing with the editing and this is what it turned into. I took it in the morning as the sun was coming up over the field beside my house but now it looks like I took it at night. I kind of like it especially since it wasn't what I thought to do when I first took it. I am trying to learn so any advice is appreciated thanks

Emily, since you got my curiosity up with this shot, I dropped it into Photoshop and increased the brightness of only the highlighted light sections and emphasized the lighting on the upper left section. It came out looking reasonable so you might try that with an image editor if you find the time. Nice shot by the way!

For me the black sky may be a bit much and applying the 'rule of thirds' either the sky or the field could be more dominant in the photo. Thanks for sharing =)

@ronphotography @mrstfeeley216 Copied yes, to play with it in Photoshop.I gather pinching it refers to stealing it which is a great stretch of imagination. There is nothing wrong with copying and it wouldn't matter even if it was copyrighted. It is not and wasn't used for anything commercial and almost every picture on the web can be copied, saved and modified. I've already deleted it since I was wanting to see what was possible within Photoshop. I've got too many pictures of my own to worry about keeping track of these days. By the way, copyrighting only protects against commercial usage and redistribution, and even then great pain has to be taken to protect one rights. Good luck and happy picture taking and editing!

@mrstfeeley216 You can copyright your photos from within most editing programs (like Photoshop and Lightroom) which adds a watermark just like you're already doing but you need to add the copyright mark circle c or (c). You can also do this digitally which is more costly and is used by the more serious or professional. Signing digitally allows for searching the web for your special mark and validating the usage.
