Has anyone turned their project into a photo book? If so what company do you use to create the book? About how many pages do you put into a book...if you use multiple books.
There was a "photo a day" album available from Anthropologie for $29 with a very nice cloth binding and 4x6 sleeves. It looked perfect for this. Wish I had gotten it when I first saw it because now they are sold out. Maybe they will get some more.
I have just started creating my book through Blurb. I have found it's the best site with the most variety for such a large number of photos. I am trying to put about 3 or 4 photos on a page and thinking I will end up with 100-120 pages. It's a hard cover book. Prices are pretty reasonable and I have heard the quality is great from lots of other 365ers. It's a lot of work to figure out though! But it'll be worth it!
You can do up to 440 pages. There are price breaks for different amount of pages. There are also many different size books. I am doing a standard landscape 10x8 book. So with 120 pages it should cost about $45 with a hard cover. I didn't think it was too bad of a price! Here is the link to the Blurb pricing...
@amoment the key is to make a folder now and save each photo every day with something such as 01-01-12 Because most sites will pull them in by numerical or file name order. trust me my week has been spent going through my computer and finding 530 photos for a book.
@billjohnson Ooh, how long ago were those at Anthropologie? I love their stuff. If it was sorta recent they might just have leftovers at the store, still. There is one in town here.
I used Shutterfly to order a book. I made a page for each week in Photoshop and then uploaded them. 56 pages was around $50 (currently 25-40% off on photobooks).
@amers79 hi amy and everyone ... just wondering if you looked at picaboo? i've started a book in blurb but can't figure out if/how I can rotate the pics so they are not square on the page.
I made my own book last year! I just got some albums and printed out the pix every day (or, sometimes I would wait a week to catch up! LOL!). It's so much fun to look back and see all that happened last year--a diary of sorts! Also a lot cheaper than ordering a book!
@sunnygreenwood I have been using the custom layout in Blurb so you can make your pics whatever size you would like. It took me awhile to figure out that I can do a custom layout! It's been way easier!
@amers79 thanks for responding amy. yes, i can adjust the size, i just cant figure out how to rotate them to anything that's not parallel to the side of the page. that's what i meant by "square" - my bad choice of words. lol
@amers79 Hey Amy. I downloaded the program to do the custom thing with Blurb, but I keep finding that when I want to put more than one picture on a page it won't allow me to showcase my whole photo. I usually have to crop it pretty significantly. Am I doing something wrong?
@amoment I haven't had a problem with cropping. Which program did you download? I am using Booksmart. You are able to do preset layouts or you can edit them to your liking.
