tripod

my lovely family gave me a tripod for christmas :-) no more using a pile of books or other mischellanious items as a stand for me!

quick question though, do you leave the tripod mount for the quick release on the camera? or only put it on when you are using the tripod?

Depends how much you use the tripod. I don't use mine much, so I don't leave the plate on. When I am using it a lot, I do leave it on.

Congrats on a great present!

I leave the mount with the tripod, but that's only so I know where it is. xD And also that my camera won't stay upright with the mount underneath it (it tips with my heavier lenses). And also, I don't use my tripod all that often so there's not much point for me to leave it on.

My mount is always on my camera, I find it saves time and it means I don't lose it. Its rare for me to take it off and keep it on the tripod. Each to their own I guess.

I leave mine on at all times, i can leave the camera on a table etc and not worry about my camera base getting knocked around with the plate on and also use a lens hood at all times so the hood is resting on the table and not the lens. Hope this is any help, enjoy your tripod ; ]

Used to love having mine on the camera all the time...until I bought the BLack rapid strap...which doesn't allow te tripod mount to stay on the camera...Now I'm totally lost and can never find the mount.

I don't use my tripod that often so I leave the quick release plate on it rather than the camera most of the time.

What you can take it off you camera once you put it on..... ;-)

@swilde Sue - if you have a Manfrotto style tripod and plate, you can get a replacement bolt from Blackrapid, and thus clip directly to the ring on your tripod plate. If you like keeping the plate on, it's a great way to go.
