Canon Lens Repair Brisbane?

My Canon lens 18 -85mm seems to be jammed or something. It keeps giving me the error message saying "clean contacts on lens. Lens not communicating with camera." I have cleaned the contacts, but to no avail. I found a place called Accurate Instruments in Petrie that had good reports for canon lens repair when I googled them. Does anyone else who lives in Brisbane have any suggestions for where I can take it to have it checked/repaired? Thanks.

Take it out behind the barn and shoot it.

Then go by a 50mm ƒ1.8.

@gurry I thought about that, but gee, I'm all out of bullets. And I already have the 50mm 1.8, so looks like I'm a step ahead of you

my 75-300mm lens is doing the same thing and the photography shop scraped the contacts and said if it keeps doing it then there is nothing else to be done but a friend said it may be the firmware on the camera and that I should go to canons website and download a newer version but I havent had the chance to check into that if not then im going to write a letter to canon
