An interesting idea for someone who's handy. You would lose quite a bit of light - that's a long tube so you'd probably need an off-camera flash.
Being completely without tools and not being good at such things, I opted to spend a few dollars. For under $10 (US) I bought a ring that has male ends on both sides, so I can reverse a lens in front of another. I also had an old 2X teleconverter that had been my fathers (you can find them on ebay and places like that for not much). It was awful so I took the glass out of it and now have a free extension tube. I did come close recently to buying an old bellows, but it was $200 for bellows and lens, and I would have had to buy an adapter also - that's getting into serious money.
I have extension tubes, and believe me the cheaper reverse adaptor is so much better due to problems with light.
I just watched the video, that would work out far more expensive than an adaptor, heres mine form yesterday using the adaptor. Click on the link in the image to see the whole size of the flower.
With the point and shoot I hold my 50mm film lens (without turning it around, so it 'faces' my subject, no adapter ring)....nothing fancy but I get some great really close shots. I have to play with the focus and f/stop on the 50mm as my point and shoot has no manual function. With my Nikon I do the same, hold it in place and finagle the focus of both the 50mm and on the lens of the Nikon...no adapter ring, I feel like a juggler, with my Nikon I do turn the 50mm around.

It works with a point and shoot too.
