question please

I seem to be losing clarity in my photos. I'm shooting a Sony Alpha 550 and have taken several thousands of pictures. I try and keep the ISO on 200 to maintain clarity but seems I'm losing more every time I shoot. Any thought's? How can you tell the number of shots of shots that have been taken on your camera?? Thanks for any help out there.

@onepicatatime It might be your diopter settings maybe? If you adjusted it to your vision, and then your vision gradually worsens, then this can happen. I say this as it just had been happening to me...I thought it was the lens, then the camera, but I think it was my eyesight and diopter needed changing.

I feel silly asking, but are you cleaning your lens? Could humidity play a roll in any of your shots?

I have heard of people having a problem with the sensor inside the camera being dirty affecting their clarity too....just a thought

I just looked at your shots and they're great! I also have a Sony, and I've always wondered how good it is compared to Canon, Nikon, etc. I don't shoot a lot of macros, but yours look as good as any I've seen on 365. @espyetta comment on the diopter is a good one also. I had issues with the Sony 50mm 1.4 lens that was a common manufacturer defect, though if you've been using it for a while, then that's less likely. I have a Sony 35mm (which I use for almost everything) and a Tamron 90mm.

to check the number of actuations on your camera, get a free program like OPanda ( http://www.opanda.com) and open the last picture you took with it. There will be a lot of details in there that you don't normally see, one of those will be the number of actuations.

@espyetta @sharritta @beachradish @mgirard @superbeyotch Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I've been trying to figure out how to calculate actuations too Michael. This will surely help. No worries Sharon. I think the difference in temp inside to out plays a part sometimes. Thanks for checking out my pistures beachradish. I apprciate your kinds words and will check the diopter as well. You guys ROCK. Thanks again.
