Dancing paint

June 9th, 2012
I came across this video recently http://www.petapixel.com/2010/10/02/making-paint-dance-in-slow-motion-using-sound-waves/

Although I definitely don't have all the equipment they have in the video, I decided to have a go myself, and while it didn't come out as good I was still pleased with the results.

Has anyone else given this a try? I may have another go this weekend..

I have been doing them and actually have sold a few of them. Here is one that I did. It is a lot fun and frustration doing them. Sometimes they come out awful and sometimes you get a good one like this. Experimenting with different colors and amounts of paints as well as different songs really makes it fun.

I've been wanting to do it for a while but I haven't got a speaker that I can use yet. Great shot, btw :)

@darrenellis i bought a $25 computer speaker/subwoofer set. not the best you can buy but worth it to experiment on.

@gareauk1 thank you again for introducing me to this awesome idea.

@grace2012 thank you

@jsilver I might give it another try today. What kind of paint do you use? I used gouache paint mixed with some water...

@grace2012 I use Createx Airbrush Paint which works great because I don't need to thin it down with anything and depending on the song they will really bounce. The trickiest part is timing it just right. Let me know if you need any other tips.
