Pretty amazing. Even the folks up in the windows are identifiable when zoomed way in. And you can tell what types of cameras the crowd is using as the brand it readable in their hands.

There is one part (maybe more) down near the bottom right of the image where you can see some overlap of the same person where different images were used to create this. AWESOME!!!!

There are thousands of these on gigapan.org, and it shows how to create your own as well.

Here's a 272 billion pixel image: http://www.gigapan.com/gigapans/66626

This is the best I've managed, just 340 million pixels and not as sharp as it should be (no tripod): http://www.gigapan.com/gigapans/56733

This reminds me of CSI & other TV series where they can infinitely zoom in and enhance the surveillance camera footage :)

Around 10 years ago, I was on a military base on the Kuwait/Iraq border. I was shown a demonstration of the satellite technology being used at the time. I was shown a pic of the Humber Bridge from space. The number plate of a truck on it was just about readable on when zoomed in!
This kind of technology is now new, but it is still impressive!
