Help with saving black and white edits

October 11th, 2012
I have a problem I'm hoping someone could shed some light on. I use a windows computer and I've found that when I edit photos in black and white I'm unable to print them at some places. The images just don't show up "image unavailable". Now I've given some jpg files to a client and she is able to view the jpgs on her mac but not upload them to iphoto. Does anyone know what setting I would need to change to solve this problem??

Is the B&W a Jpeg?

How big are the files?

Just change the mode of your image back to RGB before you save it. It's still a JPEG, but there's a difference between and RGB (colour) JPEG and a monochrome JPEG. It will still look the same, but the RGB file size will be 3 times larger.

@agima Yes the b&w is a Jpg. And the files are anywhere from 3-6 MB. Same as my colour files.
@pizzaboy Thanks, I'll give that a go. It will make them quite large then... compared to coloured files?

@pizzaboy I've just given it a go and have emailed it to my client to see if she can open it. It actually didn't make much difference to the file size at all :)

@kiwichick Cool, hope it works out.

@pizzaboy is right about the file types. a lot of places can only print RGB files so if they are saved as CMYK or Monochrome they only show up as 'image unavailable' once converted to RGB it should work fine.
i work at officeworks and customers have this problem quite a lot haha. easy fix :)
