Well, the camera store called a week or so ago, to see when I was going to come and get the broken camera. I gave them a 5 minute rant starting with the fact that I couldn't pick the camera up any time soon because I was still so mad, I couldn't guarantee that I wouldn't throw the darn thing through their store window. Lo and behold, the store agreed to return the camera to Nikon and I just found out this morning that NIKON IS GOING TO REPLACE IT!
I'm very pleased that I'll once again have my hands back on a light weight bridge camera with the most amazing zoom on the market. I REALLY appreciate the advice from so many of you as to which camera I should go with next. It's such a great community here, where people actually feel for others and do their best to make situations the best they can be.
I'm glad they replaced your camera because they said that they had "repaired" mine but it came back just the same. Fortunately Amazon refunded the money and I then bought the same camera again from John Lewis. So far (don't let it hear me say this!), it's behaved itself for me. Fingers crossed because it is a great camera
Wow, you are the second person in the last three days I've read about a bad experience with Nikon. Glad yours has a happy ending! Can't wait to see pics from your new camera!
My experience with Nikon some years ago was similar, the store being very unwilling to do anything, blaming me for everything, but when they finally agreed to send it to Nikon, Nikon replaced everything in my camera.
@newbie yes, stacey, that's another reason why i haven't been taking many pics --- discouraged by the lack of co-operation by Nikon but they've come around.
Thanks again for all your kind words and good ideas!
