Resizing photos

I need to resize some photos for an e-publication. I use Lightroom. The maximum height I am supposed to use is 300 pixels. I thought the other number would change to keep the same ratio, but it did not. How do I figure out what the other number should be?

If you use standard ratio (3:2) it should be 200 px.

When you export in Lightroom... under "image sizing" click "resize to fit" and choose "long edge" and then insert 300 pixels and the resolution. It should adjust the short edge accordingly.
