Color Cast after Callibration

December 13th, 2012
Hi, guys! I just recently bought the Spyder 4Pro and installed it on my HP Pavilion g6 laptop (I need to upgrade soon!), but after callibrating I am noticing a brownish/tan color cast on everything! It makes everything look overly saturated. I have contacted the makes of Spyder 4Pro, which is Datacolor, and this is the response that I was given:

"These problems are usually caused by software that is installed by the video card. They are control panels that interfere with the calibration data being loaded to the lookup tables. Their control panels need longer to boot than the Spyder3Utility start-up which gave them the chance to overwrite the data we just wrote to the lookup table of the graphic adapter.

Depending on your graphic card you can disable the control panel.

For Intel integrated graphics it's:
hkcmd.exe
igfxtray.exe
igfxpers.exe

All these programs will be started via the registry, so you'll need a startup manager to disable them, or you can use the windows-tool "msconfig".

Once you have disabled the control panel the profile should stay loaded."

And I hate to admit it, but I have no idea what I need to do. To me this is just a bunch of mumbo jumbo and might as well be in a different language! When I search for the above listed exe's I can find them when using my search box on the start up menu, but when I click them it does nothing. I could really use some help!! PLEASE!!!

-Thanks!

Which version of Windows do you have?
It will be something like
Start - Run - msconfig http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSConfig
Get some help if this is new to you.
What they are saying is that the video driver is over writing the spider settings - which seems possible if a bit unlikely. I think they are telling you to disable some of the video driver software so the spider software can control the color. This is not normal stuff to ask a user to do.

@godders --Thanks, I figured it was due to an over ride but, I just did not know exactly what I was doing. I have Windows 7. I was thinking along the same lines when it comes to it should not be something that I should have to do when I just paid 175.00 for it! I'm not sure what I am going to do because I have read in a few forums about people (with different types of computers (some laptops, some desktops, some Macs, some HP's, etc.), say that they just could not get it to work with their computers. I was really hoping to take a step forward and manage the color of my prints myself and save money with the lab that I am using, but it looks like I will be needing to invest in a new computer first. My desktop needs work, so that is why I was trying to work with the laptop, but as of now, it looks like it will be worth my while to just wait, save, and get the desktop fixed before trying to callibrate again. Thanks for answering!

I am wondering if you could update your video card's drivers and see if perhaps this would be of a benifit...a shot in the dark but always worth a try
