I decided to give a Graphics Tablet a go for editing - there were some great reviews for a Monoprice brand tablet that only costs around $50.
Only just starting to get into it, haven't set up the pressure sensitivity yet. This is one of the first uses of it:
The HDR processing had left the tree trunks quite green, I found the tablet really good for painting in varying amounts of saturation etc. I'm looking forward to learning to use it well; if anyone does use one regularly I'd appreciate any tips.
I don't use a mouse at all for anything on my desktop, I have had a tablet for years, still going strong. If you are into self punishment, hide your mouse from yourself, and the stylus will become like second nature quickly...I mean use it for browsing and scrolling and email...etc.
@agima@gigiz Turns out my tablet (and certain others) isn't supported for pressure sensitivity by GIMP 2.8. I either need to regress GIMP or wait for 3,0 - bit of a shame!
I have a Wacom Bamboo ... never use it...have tried and fail each and every time to manage even five minutes with it. A big blah, because apparently they're awesome if you can get used to them lol.
I have been using a Wacom Graphire for years now. It is really worth having a tablet if you intend using a photo editing package (just try writing your name with a mouse instead of a stylus if you don't believe me!) It takes a little getting used to but is well worth the effort.
Not so cool in Lightroom. I found that it cut my processing time into about 1/4 of normal time and the quality of the edits was so much better.
The pressure feature is great in touching up photos... I hope they bring out v3.0 soon.
