The Best Place To Go To Convert Film To DVD & Similar Projects.

January 13th, 2013
I have so many different kinds of film, like VHS and other different cartridges of pictures that I have taken and would like them converted to DVD's. Their are so many out there that you can send your film off to and I don't know which one's are better than other's? I also have 100's of old slides that have great and priceless pictures of vacation spots that I would love to get on a DVD and then import all of them, plus the pictures I'm speaking of above to my i-photo library. My daughter has sent her's off to a good place in California, I didn't feel that it was to expensive, but a lot of editing could have been done to get rid of too much of the same thing. I have 100's of pictures, some very small and old that I would love to see bigger and brighter also. I have a scanner, but feel that it's to old and it's really hard to scan, they don't always come out to the size I want and it takes so much time. I seriously need some feedback on how to even get this project started. I'm sure their are a lot of photographer's on here that are familiar with these projects and I would really like some input on how to do these things.

Thanks for your help,

The best way is to invest in a decent scanner and do the photos yourself. This means you can edit photos, clean up dust and scratches and make sure the colour is right. The colour and light in scanned photos is something that relies on personal preference and no one end the end can do it for you. My father in law scanned hundreds of photos and pu. Them on desks as a project.

That part I understand, will need to find a better one as mine is to complicated and old. I still need to find a place to put the film on a DVD, I don't have the capability to do that. One camera is possible, but the other film's camera's no longer exist. Any suggestions, Peter?
Thanks for the help. What scanner did your father in law use and was it a while ago, their are so many out there.
Thanks, Linda
