Help with a translation please

February 24th, 2013
Hi, I wonder if anybody would be kind enough to tell me what the calligraphy/symbol on the side of this teapot says in English. I will probably be feeling a little foolish if it's "Tea" but there we go. Many thanks in advance,

Paul.

Well this is a little embarassing but after some investigation through Google etc. I found this

That's the Chinese symbol for the word "tea" and it looks very much like the pots symbol. Ha I should have guessed.

wish i could help. fantastic pic!!

yup, indeed -- tea in Japanese as well! Read as "cha"

But that's definitely a Chinese teapot in the photo and not a Japanese one.

And, very cool capture of steam . . .

@jyokota Thank you so very much, I actually am happy that it says "Tea" it is the perfect word for the pot.

love the tea pot and that you were able to find what was written on it.

@unit8 Yup. It says Cha in Chinese and means tea. Nice photo!

Oh I get it now.....thats where the phrase "Cup of Char" comes from...meaning cup of tea, my mum very often called it 'char'. Cup of Char and a Wad.....means a cup of tea and a slice of cake....love your shot by the way...I have learnt so much from 365, not just about photography. lol
