wireless remote for Nikon D3000

March 3rd, 2013
Hi all

I want to buy a wireless remote for my D3000, I've been shopping around the internet and have read varying reviews - are the non-brand remotes ok or is it best to stick with Nikon, as I'm seeing mixed reports?

Any suggestions of a decent one to purchase gratefully received!

Thanks
Jess

I bought a cheap non brand one years ago for my nikon. it worked fine. Paid about £8 for it.

Can't remember what it was but i'll try and find it.

I don't know if this works on the D3000, but it is a great wireless shutter trigger and off camera flash trigger. Connect one to your camera's flash hot shoe and hold the other one with you. It's WAY better than the IF remotes that require a direct line of sight.

The older version works for the D3000 though, so i'd assume the 603 does. Best $30 i've spent. Seriously.

I have a Nikon remote for my d3000. If you can get one that doesn't require a direct line of site, I would definitely go with that. Otherwise I can't really see why it would make much difference if you used a name brand or non brand.

I got one of the cheap amazon basics wireless remotes. It worked great..... Until it didn't. Which was yesterday at a shoot when I really needed it. So, I just ordered one that is not wireless as a replacement.

I have the d7000 and would love to hear if anyone has a wireless they like for it. My search today wasn't fruitful.

@mdfphoto Matt, just looked up your link after I sent that last post. Looks like your suggestion may be a possibility. Thanks!

@ridley Michelle, this system is awesome. Its like having a pocket wizard set up for 1/10 of the price...

@mdfphoto Matt, since I'm already following you and I loved your dog on the beach yesterday, I took your recommendation and ordered on amazon! Arrives on wednesday so I can try it out soon.

@jessfresh78 I bought a remote for my D7000. It is branded "Nikon" but is obviously a cheap copy - works fine though. Just a few pounds on ebay.

@jessfresh78 Just read your post again - do you want a remote to trigger the camera, or to remotely trigger the flash? It's not the same thing.

hi Pete...to trigger the camera, not the flash

Thanks for all the replies everyone, v helpful :)

@mdfphoto Matt, I never thanked you for this recommendation. I received it and forgot about it til yesterday, when I went with a group to shoot for HDR. It was a crowded venue and you really had to "pounce" when people finally cleared your shot -- I used the yongnuo all day and LOVED IT! Could just set up the shot, then, when the coast was clear, fire off three shots quickly. Thank you so much for pointing me towards this.

@ridley Nice! I'm glad they are working out for you. Not bad for $30, right?
