MY 'nifty fifty' won't come off my camera. I can release it and rotate it so the red dots match, but then it won't come off.
Anybody else have this problem? When I check on the internet the only answers I find are basically to break the lens to get it off. It is still under warranty so I can't do that without calling Canon Monday.
Anybody have any other tricks?
so far nothings worked I'll probably have to send it in for repairs which means it least a week without it.......the thought of using that hammer has crossed my mind......just a little aggravated.
hmm. I've just pulled my 50 out for a look. The only thing I spotted is the same screw in the forum reply posted my Mike. @mikehamm
The mechanism (on the lens half) Is plastic. I'd be very surprised if there's anything you can do without dismantling either the lens, or the camera to get that off not destructively.
Considering its under warranty, I'd suggest you get on the blower to Canon and find out where you can take it. I wouldn't recommend the email service, unless you don't want a reply until Tuesday or later.
Maybe also call a local shop? If it's as common as people say, they might know how to fix it, if it's easy. I'd look up your local independant Canon specialist to ring as someone to talk to as well.
