best portrait lens for Sony nex 3?

August 16th, 2013
My newest addition (nex 3) is due on Monday. I'm very excited. After much thought I had decided that a great portrait lens should be next. Any suggestions? I have the Sony 50mm f/1.8 in my mind... but seeing how my mind can sometimes not always lead to the best choice I decided once again to come here and have the masses muddle my brain. @abrikill I expect to here from you :P

What's your approximate budget?

Lenses I would consider would be:

Sony 35mm f/1.8 ($450) -- equivalent to a 52mm film lens, often seen as a traditional portrait lens, but personally I prefer something longer.

Sony 50mm f/1.8 ($300) -- equivalent to a 75mm film lens, which is pretty close to the 85mm length that is loved by many portrait photographers.

Sigma 60mm f/2.8 DN ($240) -- equivalent to a 90mm film lens. The cheapest and a nice focal length, but a relatively narrow maximum aperture (f/2.8) and no image stabilisation count against it.

Carl Zeiss 32mm f/1.8 ($900) -- starting to get a little wide for a portrait lens (48mm equivalent), and no image stabilisation, but will knock all of the other lenses out of the water in terms of image and build quality.

Best buy in my eyes is definitely the one you already were thinking of, the Sony 50mm f/1.8. All these would work perfectly on the NEX-7, too :)
